Moving around some furniture, I just happen to come upon some old photos I wanted to scan for memory sake. These old photos from better days when we could both still walk and were both fairly healthy yet, were taken to our trip to Maui probably a dozen years ago, around 1999. We were staying close to Lahaina in Maui, Hawaii on Kaanapali Beach but we could not find the Kingdom Hall. We looked all over, and back then we did not have any GPS. We would drive back to the larger city of Kahului each day to the K-Mart to have our film developed each day (no digital cameras then either) and get some lunch. While driving around one day, Pam just happened to look down a street and say, those must be brothers. We waited until they came back to their car group, and sure enough, they said to follow them as they were going back to the Kingdom Hall then for lunch. They not only showed us around their beautiful Kingdom Hall, but the Philippine Congregation Brothers and Sisters were there cleaning that day, and we got to meet them all, and it was wonderful. They then gave us perfect directions to get back to the Lahaina Kingdom Hall where we were staying so we could go for Sunday meeting. It was like a worldwide convention just on that one single Sunday alone in Lahaina. They normally have 50 regular publishers attend on Sunday, but they said like normal, they get 100 visitors each Sunday. We met brothers from all over the world there at that one Sunday meeting and it was so very encouraging. There was even a family from a neighboring congregation in Ohio that had just visited our own Kingdom hall in Ohio; amazing. We put about 500 miles on that rental car exploring the entire island, and believe me, you have never driven until you drove the Hāna Highway.
